Spotify Playlists to Help You Sleep Tonight
Do you ever happen to hear a song from the past and it reminds you about the time you first heard a song or when you would constantly play it? According to Sleep Advisor, music triggers a part of your brain called the hippocampus, which is responsible for your long-term memory storage. Music is definitely the epitome of nostalgic feelings.
Other than bringing back fond (or heartbreak memories), music can also put you right to sleep or at least help you get there. Music is able to slow down your heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing. But of course the slower the songs, the better. It doesn’t have to be particular music, so you can listen to songs you’d like, but make sure they’re around 60 to 80 beats per minute (BPM). You can tap into genres like classical, lo-fi, or your favorite oldies.
A study showed that when older adults listen to music before going to sleep, they fall asleep faster, sleep longer, and didn’t really wake up randomly during the night. Like most habits that are good for you, try to practice listening every night before bed. This will create another step in your sleep cycle.
